Lancashire Insulation Grants There is still time to benefit from free insulation measures in Lancashire and surrounding counties as part of the Government's Energy Company Obligation (ECO) scheme. Households in the UK could save up to £565* a year on energy bills simply by improving the efficiency of the insulation installed in the property you live. The free insulation measures offered are: Loft insulation. Heat from your house will rise resulting in about quarter of the heat generated being lost through the roof of an uninsulated home. Insulating the roof space of your home is the simplest, most cost-effective way of saving energy and reducing your heating bills. Room in roof insulation. Room In Roof Insulation grants are currently available in some areas as part of the Energy Companies Obligation scheme. If your property has an existing room in the attic that is accessed via a fixed staircase you could benefit from a grant covering the cost of having the attic room updated to the current building regulations. Insulation batts are secured to the walls and ceilings of the room and slabs of Insulation are fitted between any rafters. A layer of plasterboard is then installed over the insulation material and skimmed ready for decoration.
